"Magic Ring Hawker in Ginza on March 9th, 1991"

Views of the weekend "Pedestrian Paradise" in Ginza where I ran into the same man I had seen hawking "magic rings" in Shinbashi earlier in the day. At first I didn't realize it was the same guy, but figured it out after getting a good look at his face in Ginza, where he attracted a larger crowd of people than he had in Shinbashi. Since he let several people attempt to get the ring off the coil themselves, many were intrigued and several ended up buying one (for Y300).

For anyone who has seen some of the Tora-san (Otoko-wa Tsurai-yo) movies, this shows that some people really were earning money hawking things in public places, as the Tora-san character does in the movie series. What with the advent of the strong yen, a flood of imports, and Y100 shops, you see much less of this sort of thing now.
