With the exception of the one-day cool exhibition in the Okuno Building by Matsumoto Akinori (see: "Matsumoto Akinori Sound Scenes at Okuno Building"), this batch of ten video clips are all centered around trains and train stations. First the Seibu-Haijima Line, then the Seibu-Shinjuku Line, the Tozai Line, the Ginza Line, the Yamanote Line, and finally the Chuo Line. All part of the usual Tokyo lifestyle - going about here and there via one train after another.

Watching a Ginza Line train arrive at Nihonbashi Station. Notice the advertising on the side of the train. Advertising on the side of transportation vehicles began with ads on buses, and is on trains from time to time as well.
Probably putting an ad (or ads) all over an eleven-car train (in the case of the Yamanote Line) costs vastly more than putting it (or them) on a few buses. (There are also ad trucks that do nothing except help make traffic worse while dragging around illuminated billboards.)

Matsumoto Akinori had a one-day exhibition at the Okuno Building in Ginza on April 20th, 2010.
I received the artist's permission to take this video clip, but unfortunately, as soon as I began recording, a couple of women visitors began talking, making it harder to get the effect of the different sounds created by the various objects in the room. Different fans and motors were turned on and off, creating different combinations of... music? It was much nicer than just noise, so I think the term "music" fits.
The visual element was also interesting - it was fun to watch the many different moving shapes and the shadows they cast on the walls.

Watching a Yamanote Line train arrive at 6:33 p.m. at Yurakucho Station - feeling surprisingly relaxed. For whatever reason, the platform wasn't crowded. Probably a combination of the system running the maximum number of trains and it being a little past the peak suburbs-bound rush, what with the bad economy having companies sending people home earlier.

Looking around on the Chuo Line platform at Kanda Station. What with all the lights, Tokyo often looks better at night than it does in the day - with lights, reflections, and a dark sky background providing a pleasing contrast with the sea of colored lights....
